Submission of the bidbook

On 5 October 2026, Helsingør Municipality and the Elsinore 2032 association submitted the application to become European Capital of Culture in 2032 to the Danish Ministry of Culture. Thank you to everyone who contributed ideas, time and effort.

Under the title To Be …, the application explores Being, Becoming and Belonging. The work draws on conversations and collaboration with members, artists, cultural institutions, associations and businesses. The next step is the European expert jury’s assessment. If Helsingør is shortlisted, the application and programme will be developed further together.
